Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day
Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day is an annual day of remembrance observed on October 15 and includes the International Wave of Light.
Did you know that every year on October 15th, families across the world light candles at 7 pm local time in honor of all the families who have experienced pregnancy loss and their infants who have died from miscarriage, stillbirth, SIDS, ectopic pregnancy, termination for medical reasons, and the death of a newborn? With families joining in solidarity all over the world, lighting a candle will create a continuous 24 hour wave of light in honor of all the babies we are missing.

“when all grieving parents could come together and be surrounded by love and support from their friends and families, a day where the community could better understand their pain…a day to reflect on the loss yet remember the love.”

In the United States, 1 out of every 4 pregnancies ends in miscarriage and 1 and every 160 pregnancies end in stillbirth. These numbers do not include infant death from preterm labor, diagnosis of life-limiting conditions, or SIDS.
